Last year, 1,104 foreigners were caught with fake passports and ID documents in this country, the highest number ever since statistics on this were released in 2012.

According to Aftenposten, the 1,104 people with 1,167 false documents. Of those captured, 482 were Turks.

“Oslo Airport caught almost five times as many counterfeit ID documents in 2018 as in 2017. This is also where most cases of ID abuse among Turkish citizens were discovered when arriving by plane,” says senior adviser Mads Odnes Jensen at National ID- center.

“For many of them, it is necessary to use false documents in order to get to Norway at all, mainly by air. But when they meet with the Police Immigration Unit and seek asylum, they reveal their supposedly correct Turkish name and identity,” he continues.
