Norway is home to amazing actresses and actors. Read on to meet just a few of the members of Hollywood’s talented Norwegian branch.

Alisha Boe

Alisha Ilhaan Bø was born in Oslo in 1997. She moved to Los Angeles at a young age and began her acting career in 2008. She appeared in films such as Amusement, He’s On My Mind, and Paranormal Activity 4. She’s appeared in TV shows Modern Family, Extant, and Days of Our Lives – but she’s most known for her role as Jessica Davis in Netflix’s original series 13 Reasons Why.

Pål Sverre Hagen

Born in Stavanger in 1980, Pål Sverre Hagen has appeared in a number of Norwegian TV shows such as Valkyrien, and films such as Max Manus, Ragnarok, Kraftidioten, and The Last King. He also played legendary Norwegian Thor Heyerdahl in Oscar-nominated Kon-Tiki (the name of the wooden raft this explorer crossed the Pacific Ocean in).

Ingrid Bolsø Berdal

Born in 1980 in Inderøy, Norway, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal has a rich theater and on-screen career. She’s appeared in films such as Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Chernobyl Diaries, and Hercules, as the sole female warrior Atalanta. Berdal has a reoccurring role in the HBO TV show Westworld.

Aksel Hennie

Oslo-born Aksel Hennie (b. 1975) has appeared across Norwegian and international screens alike. He starred in the Norwegian film Max Manus and the show Nobel. Hennie’s work can also be seen in Hercules, as a warrior, and The Martian, as German chemist Alex Vogel.

Agnes Kittelsen

Agnes Kittelsen was born in 1980 in Kristiansand. She’s well known in Norway for her roles in works such as the TV show Skolen, and films Max Manus and Kon-Tiki. Kittelsen also starred in the Norwegian movie Happy, Happy, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema.

Kristofer Hivju

Born in Oslo in 1978 to an acting family, Kristofer Hivju is most famous for his performance as Tormund Giantsbane in Game of Thrones. During his acting career, he has also appeared in films like Fast & Furious 8Operasjon Arktis, and The Last King, which he starred in. He’s a reoccurring star in the Swedish TV show Beck.

Liv Ullmann

Born in 1938 in Tokyo to Norwegian parents, actress and director Liv Ullmann began her career after the family resettled in Norway. Ullmann has a rich career, including a 1972 Golden Globe win for Best Actress in The Emigrants and a score of other Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Academy Award nominations.

Thorbjørn Harr

Born in Oslo in 1974, Thorbjørn Harr has been acting since his teenage years. Harr has appeared in films such as Mot Moskva and Mars & Venus, along with performing in multiple theater productions. He appeared in the sitcom Younger alongside Hillary Duff, and also gained public recognition as Jarl Borg in the Vikings series.

Andrea Berntzen

Born in 1998 in Oslo, Andrea Berntzen starred in one of Norway’s most controversial movies, Utøya: July 22, at the age of 20. She received the Norwegian Amanda Award in 2018 for the role. Appearing in a handful of other works so far as well, Berntzen is currently studying acting.

Nicolai Cleve Broch

Born in 1975 in Oslo, Nicolai Cleve Broch is a theatre and on-screen actor. He has appeared in plays by Henrik Ibsen and Anton Chekhov, along with a series of TV shows such as Lekestue and Frikjent. His movie credits include Uno, Buddy, Max Manus, and Den Siste Revejakta
