Celebrations include speeches, music and remembrance

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Margrethe of Denmark. Celebrations will be held across Denmark but will mostly focus on Copenhagen.

There will be an official government reception at the Folketing (Danish parliament) including speeches and musical performances. Only 40 guests are allowed to attend, due to Danish infection measure controls.

Among the attendees will be former Prime Ministers and current political party leaders as well as some of the Royal Family including the Crown Prince’s family and the Queen’s younger sister.

Following the reception, Queen Margrethe will lay a wreath at the grave of her parents, King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid.
