Airlines in Norway want everyone onboard to wear facemasks

The new Infection Protection Guide from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) says the best measure to prevent contamination onboard is to block all the center seats to prevent passengers from sitting too close. FHI will not recommend orders to use a face mask, writes flysmart24.no.

The trade union organization NHO Luftfart disagrees with this, and refers to other countries in Europe that have instead chosen the use of the mask as the most appropriate measure.

The view is shared by the aviation industry’s international organization, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which issued a facemask recommendation on Tuesday.

“I have put signs on the center seats so they are blocked for use, which most other countries in Europe so far have not done. Facemasks can easily be implemented and, according to IATA professionals, constitute good infection control measures,” says Torbjørn Lothe, Managing Director of NHO Luftfart.

  1. FHI – Kamilla Stoltenberg, Line Vold, et al – stubbornly, rigidly, and stupidly continues to oppose everyone facemasking, despite the scientific evidence that doing so can help. (Cambridge 2013 study on homemade masks’ being “significantly” helpful, by Davies, Giri, et al.)

And buses and railway coaches are similarly “closed atmospheres.”

Again, there is the South China Morning Post article “Coronavirus can travel twice as far as official ‘safe distance’ and stay in air for 30 minutes, Chinese study finds

Authorities advise people to stay 1-2 metres apart, but researchers found that a bus passenger infected fellow travellers sitting 4.5 metres away
The scientists behind the research said their investigation also highlighted the importance of wearing face masks because of the length of time it can linger”

WHEN will FHI muster the professional courage and integrity to reverse itself on this, like our Center for Disease Control (CDC) has?

  2. Thank god airlines are using their brains! Fhi either are, or are pretending to be dumb fools. How is it possible that you dont understand nor realize the importance of using facemask?? If you are not intelligent enough to understand this, then how abt taking classes from other countries?? Corona cases are increasing in norway, if not in oslo right now ,then in trondheim. Please learn something before its too late??
