Norway and the EU will negotiate a new fisheries agreement. The agreement has a value of about NOK 8 billion.

Since fishing is not part of the EEA agreement, each year Norway and the EU negotiate a new agreement on, among other things, fishing quotas in the North Sea.

“The agreement with the EU is important for Norway. Together we can ensure responsible management of fish stocks in the North Sea,” Fisheries Minister Harald T. Nesvik writes in a press release on Sunday.

The negotiations started in London last week, but are now being moved to Bergen. The deadline for reaching an agreement is December 6th.
