Large Norwegian companies in China are suffering crisis losses in connection with the virus outbreak in Wuhan and Hubei Province.

Chairman of the Board Morten Sten Johansen of the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in China, tells NRK that no employees of Norwegian companies have been diagnosed with the virus infection.

– “As far as I know, no sick employees are registered,” he says.

Large Norwegian companies, such as Jotun, Kongsberg Gruppen, and DNV-GL, have put crisis staff, according to Johansen, who works for Jotun.

The paint manufacturer’s two factories have postponed production by one week due to the outbreak of disease, but Johansen denies that this will mean that Jotun may lose a lot of money. The reason is that the closure occurs during the Chinese New Year, where there is usually low activity at the factories.

“But it is clear that if this continues and we cannot restart production in a week, it will affect us and all other companies here in China,” he told the channel.
