An American soldier was caught driving under the influence when attempting to drive off a military base in a mini-buss in Stjørdal in Trøndelag, Sunday morning.

The foreign soldier was stopped by military police at 09.55. They suspected he had been drinking.

He was on his way out the main gate of Værnes base in a minibus, writes Dagbladet.

“He was in the camp area and was stopped at the gate and was asked to take a blood alcohol test that resulted positive,” said Jan Tore Tiltnes, Trøndelag Police District Operations Manager.

The man who is in his 20’s is in Norway in connection with the NATO exercise Trident Juncture in Trøndelag.

“We received the message from the military police at Værnes. The police patrol picked up the soldier and took him to the Sheriff’s office at Stjørdal, where he blew legal value, ie 0.2 percent, says Tiltnes.
