The man who raped and killed his eleven-year-old stepdaughter in Steinkjer in 2002 must remain in preventive detention.

In 2003, Inderøy District Court sentenced the then 40-year-old man to 21 years in prison – with a minimum term of ten years – for sexual assault and murder of the eleven-year-old girl.

The court believes there is still a danger that he may kill again.

He was also convicted of the murder of his cohabitant in 1987.

The man’s lawyer Kolbjørn Lium told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the verdict would be appealed.
