Minister of Local Government and District Affairs Bjørn Arild Gram (SP) visited the Gjerdrum landslide site on Tuesday morning. He shared some good news with the local authorities.
In total, Gjerdrum Municipality will receive NOK 171 million, TV 2 reports. According to the channel, that is NOK 81 million more than what the Norwegian parliament (Storting) has granted.
The money will be used for repairs, according to the government.
Almost a year has passed since the quick clay landslide occurred at Ask in Gjerdrum Municipality. Ten people died in the landslide.
“It makes a very big impression to come here and see the dimensions (of the landslide). What is important for me to say is that when a local community like this is affected by such an incident, it is an important issue for the whole country to stand up (and support it),” Gram told the channel.
