Over the course of six days, 13 new corona cases have been confirmed in Gjøvik. The municipality believes that infection rates could rise.

Municipal chief physician in Gjøvik Siri Fuglem Berg told newspaper Oppland Arbeiderblad that she fears there could be super-spreaders of the coronavirus in the municipality.

The number of infected people in Gjøvik has increased in recent days, and there may be even more.

The municipality is now waiting for the results of 82 samples taken on Wednesday.

Fear of super-spreaders

“The fear is that we have so-called unknown super-spreaders, who may not know that they are infected.

“Therefore, I want people to limit their social interaction and close contact with others,” Fuglem Berg warned.

In six days, 13 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and for most of them, the source of the infection is currently unknown.
