If the infection development is not reversed quickly with effective measures, the capacity of the health service will be used up within a few weeks, the Norwegian Directorate of Health believes.

“In recent weeks, there has been a rapidly increasing spread of infection in Norway. Several municipalities and health trusts are already under pressure,” the Norwegian Directorate of Health wrote in a letter to the municipalities.

“The FHI’s projections indicate that there is a danger that the capacity of the health and care service will be exceeded within a few weeks,” the directorate stated.

It emphasized that it is important to introduce sufficient measures now so that more intrusive measures do not have to be introduced in the upcoming weeks and months.

“Municipalities with rising infection rates should now quickly consider introducing local regulations and targeted measures,” the directorate noted.
