Israeli fighter jets have carried out a series of powerful airstrikes on several targets in the Gaza Strip.

Explosions shook the Gaza Strip for ten minutes early Monday night. The airstrikes were more powerful, hit a larger area, and lasted longer than the attacks the day before.

According to Palestinian health officials, Sunday’s attacks were the strongest and deadliest so far, and at least 42 people were killed.

The airstrikes hit an important downtown street with apartment blocks and shops in Gaza City and lasted for more than five minutes. Several buildings were destroyed.

Power supply affected

In a brief statement, the Israeli defense stated that fighter jets are attacking targets in the Gaza Strip.

Local media reported that the main road west of the city and several open areas were among the bombed targets. A power line was also destroyed in the attacks, which led to power outages in large areas.

No injuries or deaths have been reported so far.

The attacks continue

In a televised speech on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel’s attacks would continue with “full force.”

Israel will inflict significant losses on Hamas, Netanyahu said, backed by Defense Minister and political opponent Benny Gantz.

Hamas also continued its attacks from residential areas in the Gaza Strip against the area on the Israeli side. One of the rockets hit a synagogue in the city of Ashkelon just before the celebration of the Jewish holiday Shavuot on Sunday night.

The conflict is escalating

The fighting has escalated in the last week – it is the most violent clash since the war between Hamas and Israel in 2014.

In the last 24 hours, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen sharply, and according to Palestinian health authorities, at least 188 people have lost their lives, including 55 children.

Over 1,200 people are allegedly injured. According to the AP, eight people have been killed on the Israeli side, among them a five-year-old child and a soldier.

Hamas is said to have fired more than 3,000 rockets at Israel.

  1. So the massacre continues. Remember that the Israelis started this, sending their police into that mosque where demonstrators were protesting Israeli ethnic cleansing.

    REALLY GETTING TIRED of this.

Gaza is a concentration camp as it is anyway. Is it to be turned into a death camp too?
