The month of August was the second wettest ever measured in Bergen. The 1929 record still stands.

Earlier this week, meteorologists wondered if the old record of 415 millimetres of rain during an August could be broken. Heavy rainfall, avalanche and danger warnings were sent out for Hordaland and Sogn and Fjordane this past week, but it did not last.

The rainfall in Bergen for August 2019 ended at 399.6 millimetres, writes Bergens Tidende.

However, it beat second place of 369 millimetres from 2016. The precipitation measurements in Bergen started in 1904.

This is not a new record, but the second wettest August measured. On Saturday night, there was 52.4 millimetres of rain at Florida Bergen, meteorologist Camilla Albertsen of StormGeo told the newspaper.

Precipitation was measured from the night to August 1st and to 8 o’clock in the morning of August 31st.
