The immunity from Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine lasts a minimum of one year, the American drug manufacturer stated at a health conference on Monday.

Moderna said that the company is confident that the so-called mRNA technology used in the vaccine is also well suited against new variants of the coronavirus that have been discovered in several countries, according to Reuters.

The mRNA-1273 vaccine uses a synthetic mRNA to mimic the coronavirus’s surface and train the immune system to recognize and neutralize it.

In December, Moderna said that it would carry out tests to see how the vaccine handled new variants of the coronavirus.

The company expects to deliver between 600 and 1,000 million doses in 2021.

On Monday, it was announced that the Moderna vaccine would arrive in Norway today.
