For the fifth consecutive year, Røros chosen as the country’s best cultural community. On the next places follows Trondheim and Ål.

It is followed by Norwegian culture index in 2016, which for the sixth consecutive year compiled by Telemark Research.

– We have always said that we are a cultural element, so it is very gratifying that we again take top prize in such a ranking.

We have culture for culture here in Røros. By that I mean that we thought that we would reach a saturation point by initiating new activities.

But this is not all and to a large degree people here are playing a greater role on building this culture, says director of cultural, Morten Tønde, in Røros to news agency NTB.

Researchers have compiled the index by looking at the use and supply in, including a library, cinema, concerts, theater, museums, performing arts and offers through the Cultural activities in schools.

Overall volunteerism and sport are excluded.
– Røros has wide range of cultural activities and rank high in most categories, says Bård Kleppe, project manager for culture index.

Worst score municipalities are going to Snillfjord, Kvalsund and Værøy.
