Three hours after the grass fire broke out on Lifjell mountain plateau in Sandnes, are the fire brigade still working to gain control of the flames.
– The strong wind presents challenges for the firefighters and it turns constantly. Rogaland fire and rescue team are prepared to work throughout the night and have called for extra crews, according to a press release from the fire department.
The fire started at 15 o’clock Saturday probably after some boys playing with fireworks in the area.
Saturday night requisitioned the fire brigade for a fire helicopter, which should be available for work during Sunday.
The fire department has crews from seven fire stations on site. Besides are the civil defense assisting with 20 men, writes the local newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad.
