There has been no major change in school performance at the national level since last year, according to the government. Boys performed slightly worse than the year before.

Around 180,000 students in 5th grade, 8th grade, and 9th grade have completed national tests in reading, arithmetic, and English this autumn.

Boys performed slightly worse on all tests this year compared to last year.

For example, the proportion of boys at the highest mastery level in 5th grade has decreased in all three skills.

No major changes

On average, there are no major changes in performance compared to 2019.

The results have been stable over time.

More boys perform a little better than girls in arithmetic, while the girls do better in reading.

In English, boys and girls perform more smoothly.

Minister of Education and Integration Guri Melby (V) says the Ministry does not yet know whether the performance was affected by the schools closing this spring as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
