56,000 new jobs were created in Norway from the third quarter last year to the third quarter this year, an increase of 1.9 per cent.

The increase is the result of 810,000 new hires and 754,000 terminated jobs, according to figures from Statistics Norway.

In the private sector and publicly owned enterprises, the number of jobs increased by 41,300, while the increase in municipal and state administration was 11,900 and 2,700 respectively.

In the third sector this year, there were just under 2.7 million employees, an increase of 1.7 per cent. Also here , the the increase is largest in the private sector.

It is women in the private sector and publicly owned enterprises that have the relatively highest proportion of both new and terminated employment, both at around 30 per cent.

Annual growth in average monthly salary was 3.5 per cent. The growth was strongest in the state administration.
