Following complaints from both shop stewards and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway about poor staffing, Equinor will employ 190 new skilled workers on the Norwegian shelf in 2021–2022.

That represents an increase of 4.2%, the newspaper Aftenbladet/E24 writes.

The new positions have been recommended by a working group that has assessed the need for staff.

The aim of the new hires is to support the activity, reduce the workload, and strengthen the development of competence on the Norwegian shelf.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has found shortcomings in Equinor’s staffing and expertise on the Norwegian shelf in several audits, and shop stewards have also reacted to the company’s downsizing in recent years.
