Closed borders and Norwegian holidays lead to a growth in the sale of grill food. The grocery chains of Coop, Rema 1000, Meny, and Kiwi all reported a growth in sales of grill food.

Marketing coordinator, Nina Gjerdrum, of Meny told Nationen that they see a good increase in sales of their summer products, but it is difficult to compare with last year due to the Corona situation.

-”Fewer have eaten at restaurants, border shopping has been closed for and many have vacationed at home in Norway this year.”, Gjerdrum points out.

Kiwi had an increase in sales of its grill range of 40 percent. Meny has sold 46.8 percent more fresh burgers and 24.4 percent more hotdogs, while Coop has sold almost 50 percent more grill products this year than last year. Rema 1000 also reports the same trend in their sales.

-”There is no doubt that the Norwegian Holiday, closed borders, and other Corona-related reasons explains a lot of the growth.”, said the PR and Communications director, Calle Hagg, of Rema 1000.
