XXL sends temporary lay-off notices to around 1,000 employees in Norway. The reason is the outbreak of the coronavirus and a significant drop in sales.

XXL said in a stock exchange announcement on Monday.

– “Temporary layoffs are a difficult decision to make, and we are grateful for the good dialogue and understanding from our employees’ representatives. Hopefully, the covid-19 situation will only last for a short period of time,” says acting XXL boss Tolle Grøterud, writes E24.

Grøterud says they have to take the necessary steps in this situation with low visibility and high volatility.

In addition, XXL has closed all its five stores in Austria, and has temporarily laid off about 200 employees in that country.
