The special unit has fined a police officer 7,000 kroner after a car drove into a police car during an emergency.

The accident happened in February this year in Mo i Rana when the civilian police car was dispatched to investigate a report of drunk driving, writes Avisa Nordland.

The special unit believes that the police car drove too high a speed when it drove into an intersection where it had a duty to give way. At the intersection, it was hit on the left side by a car that had a right of way.

The driver of the car estimated his own speed to have been around 20 kilometers per hour when he hit the police car, and no one was injured in the collision.

The officer driving the police car has been fined NOK 7,000 after the incident. He has accepted the fine.

Deputy Chief of Police Arne Hammer in Nordland police district says that it is too early to conclude what will happen to the police officer who drove the car.
