The government proposes extending the temporary rules on corona certificates in the Infection Control Act. The proposal is now being sent out for consultation.
Minister of Health and Care Services Ingvild Kjerkol (AP) says that the current infection situation doesn’t indicate that Norway should use a national corona certificate.
“We must nevertheless be prepared for the fact that the infection situation may change and that it may be necessary to consider infection control measures. For contingency reasons, it is, therefore, necessary to allow for the use of corona certificates in the future, not least in the event of a need for new entry measures,” Kjerkol noted in a press release.
Several countries in Europe require a corona certificate. Therefore, an extension will also be important for Norwegians to travel freely in the EU.
