Following a successful pilot project, it has been decided that all police districts in Norway will be allowed to start using drones in their work.
Since September 2019, the Agder, Trøndelag, and Troms police districts have tested the use of drones for various police purposes.
The recommendations from all districts are that the use of drones should be continued by the police.
“When the evaluation showed that drones are of significant benefit to the police’s work in 75% of the police assignments, it is important that this is rolled out throughout the country,” Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Monica Mæland (H) noted in a press release from the Police Directorate.
