Bergen Airport Flesland opened its own testing center for Corona on Sunday. Out of 149 passengers that arrived on Sunday from Amsterdam, only one wanted to be tested.

The testing center at FLesland had its first day of operations on Sunday. It is located in the international arrival hall and is Norway’s first Covid-19 test station at an airport. But so far there are only few who choose to be tested.

-”I tested myself three weeks ago. I just want to get out of the airport as fast as possible.”, said Daniel(21) from the Netherlands to Bergensavisen.

He arrived with a flight from Amsterdam that had 149 passengers. Out of all these only one, exchange student Raphaela (23), chose to be tested.

-”It is a little shocking that only I chose to be tested because it is free, but I think many are afraid to test positive and spoil their holidays.”, she said.

Chief Physician, Bjarte Nore, who is working at the testing station says he is satisfied with the actual testing process, but is disappointed with how few are getting tested. He believes the testing came as a surprise to many, but that more would get tested once they are aware of the offer.

-”It may be that some people are afraid to test positive, but I do not think that is the most important reason why people choose not to get tested.”, said Nore.

One test is only a few seconds, and Norwegians get an answer by logging in to Min Helse Norge, while foreigners will be called with their test results.

Director of Health, Bjørn Guldvog, announced on Friday that the authorities are working to establish test centers at traffic junctions and places of arrival that has a lot of traffic.” In order to be able to identify infections as early as possible.”.
