Two people have been infected with the omicron variant in Gjøvik. In addition, four of their close contacts are infected with coronavirus, two of them schoolchildren.
The samples of the four close contacts are being sequenced to determine whether they are also cases of the omicron variant.
“Two of the suspected cases go to a school in the Municipality. So the affected classes will be quarantined,” municipal chief medical officer Siri Fuglem Berg told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).
The close contacts are being treated as if they were omicron cases.
