A woman in her 30s is accused of having killed a woman in her 70s. The older woman was found dead in her apartment on Åssiden in Drammen on Thursday.

The police were notified that the woman had been found dead at 10:21 AM.

A few hours later, newspaper Drammens Tidende reported that a woman had been arrested in connection with the death.

Police station chief Øyvind Aas in Drammen informed news bureau NTB that the police arrested the woman on the basis of witness information.

Probably no relationship between the women

The woman in her 30s is charged with murder. She is known to the police from before.

“There is probably no relationship between the deceased and the apprehended person,” Aas said.

The woman was arrested in an apartment in another house near the location where the woman in her 70s was found dead.

“There is nothing to indicate that there are more who have performed the deed,” Aas added.

The police station chief stated that it is uncertain whether the woman will be questioned during the afternoon or evening.

Kripos assistance

The police do not currently want to comment on how the older woman was killed.

They are now investigating the death to find out what happened.

Aas also didn’t comment on whether the police found a possible murder weapon.

“We are also receiving assistance from Kripos for the technical part of the investigation,” he said.

The police are asking the public to contact them via the telephone number 476 96 400 if they have tips connected to the case.
