High summer temperatures have been registered in Eastern Norway on Wednesday. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow danger warning for torrential rain and lightning for areas east of the Langfjellene mountain range.
The risk of lightning and thunder will be greatest after Wednesday afternoon, and there will be large local differences, the meteorologists warn.
They ask people to be careful and to disconnect electrical appliances if there is lightning in their area. People are also asked to avoid open plains, large trees, as well as to avoid swimming.
“Throughout the day today, there will be turbulent weather in the areas east of the Langfjellene mountain range, with lightning and thunder. The showers will in part be quite powerful,” on-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød told news bureau NTB.
From Wednesday afternoon, the risk of heavy rainfall will also increase. There is a danger of local floods and landslides. Motorists are asked to drive according to the weather conditions.
