Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff secured the silver, and Marte Olsbu Røiseland won the bronze in the women’s 12.5km mass start biathlon on Friday at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.
France’s Justine Braisaz-Bouchet won the gold medal. Despite missing four shots, she persevered and managed to secure the title in 40 minutes and 18 seconds.
Eckhoff was 15.3 seconds behind Braisaz-Bouchet, while Olsbu Røiseland was 34.9 seconds back, finishing third.
This is Olsbu Røiseland’s fifth medal at the 2022 Games – she has gold medals in the mixed relay, the 10km pursuit and the 7.5km sprint, and a bronze in the 15km individual.
With these two medals and a total of 12 medals in biathlon, Norway has broken Germany’s 2006 record (at the time, the Germans won 11 medals).
