Around 60 used military vehicles are to be modified and adopted by the National Guard.

The vehicles of the type Mercedes 290 Multi III have previously been used by special forces, such as in foreign service.

– We will have a capacity which is a powerful weapon platform, and in addition it will provide task forces greater flexibility, says Inspector General Tor Rune Råby from the Home Guard.

It is the Defence’s logistics organisation workshop in Bjerkvik which has developed and modified vehicle which now has been tested by soldiers in the Home Guard Force.

The costs of the project were covered within the existing budgetary framework. The 60 multi vehicles will be delivered in two groups, and the first 30 will be rebuilt and equipped during 2017.
