25% of the corona patients admitted to Oslo University Hospital (OUS) are infected with the omicron variant, the Norwegian Nurses’ Association states.

“It is too early to say what the consequences of omicron will be in terms of hospitalizations and the need for intensive care, but the OUS reckons that we will see the consequences of it all in two to three weeks,” county leader in the Norwegian Nurses’ Association( NSF) Bård Eirik Ruud told the newspaper Avisa Oslo.

“It is worth noting that the OUS registered eleven new patients with COVID on Tuesday,” Ruud emphasized.

This is an increase from what has been the trend in recent weeks and through Christmas, where new daily admissions varied between three and six admissions.

On Wednesday, around 50 corona patients were admitted to the OUS hospitals. 17 of them were in intensive care, and all were on respirators.
