FSA (Mattilsynet) has taken some measures from 18 rabbits out of 25 hold in rabbit-hold at West- Agder which has been died because of the Jaundice disease.

The disease has only been detected once before in Norway.

Rabbit Jaundice disease is a highly acute contagious viral infection causing severe liver damage in rabbits. Mortality is very high but cannot infect humans, said FSA (Mattilsynet).

Rabbit farm in Oslo is now closed out. The rabbits that died from the disease are euthanized. The owner must now redevelop property and may acquire new rabbits until about half a year.

Jaundice infectious (rabbit haemorrhagic disease) in rabbits have been shown only once previously in Norway, in 2014. The few that survive the disease are probably considered as the permanent carriers therefore the remaining rabbits were sacrificed.
