A total of 200 million people in the European Union (EU) have so far been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, which makes up over half of the adult population, according to the EU.

54.7% have been fully vaccinated, according to spokeswoman Dana Spinant in the European Commission (EC).

These are people who have either received two vaccine doses or one dose in the case of the Janssen vaccine.

According to the AFP news agency, the EU is still sticking to the goal of reaching 70% vaccination coverage this summer.
