Singing in Norwegian churches is allowed as long as people keep their distance from others.

In several places abroad, it has been forbidden to sing in churches during the pandemic.

In Norway, a distance of two meters is recommended between hymn-singing people who do not live together.

The KA Employers’ organization for church activities and the Church Council prepared guidelines entitled “Infection control Christmas and Advent 2020” after meetings with the Norwegian Directorate of Health, the National Institute of Public Health, and the Ministry of Children and Family Affairs.

“The new recommendations further reduce the number of people we can accommodate in the church. A Christmas without people singing is unthinkable,” Church Council head Ingrid Vad Nilsen told newspaper Vårt Land.
