Parole hearing: Terrorist Breivik raises arm in Nazi salute in court

Terrorist Anders Behring Breivik raised his arm in a Nazi salute when the judge entered the courtroom on Tuesday as his parole case was about to start.

Before the court was in session, Breivik raised his arm in a Nazi salute, as he has done in previous court sessions.

When he made a similar arm movement during the case against the state in 2016 in Oslo District Court about his conditions of imprisonment, Breivik denied that it was a Nazi salute and said that it was a “Norse” salute.

He was asked by the judge to refrain from the salute. When the appeal process of the same case started in 2017, Breivik raised his arm in the same way. Again, he was asked by the judge to stop giving the salute during further court proceedings.

July 22 attack

Anders Behring Breivik addressed the press when he entered the courtroom.

Breivik had a suitcase with the following message when he entered the courtroom: “Stop your genocide against our white nations!”

When asked by a journalist whether he regrets July 22, 2011, Breivik replied that he would comment on the issue during this week’s court proceedings.

During the week, the Telemark District Court will assess the convicted mass murderer, terrorist, and right-wing extremist Breivik’s request for parole. The state prosecutor will seek to place Behring in preventive detention indefinitely.

The parole hearing is due to last three days, but the verdict will not be announced for several weeks.
