Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte encourages people to work from home again. The corona infection rates have increased since almost all corona restrictions were lifted in June.
The reopening of the country’s nightclubs was particularly short-lived.
Rutte apologized and said that it was a misjudgment, and the nightclubs were quickly ordered to close again until mid-August.
In recent weeks, the seven-day average for infection cases in the Netherlands has skyrocketed, from just under 5 to almost 59 new cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants.
Health Minister Hugo de Jonge says the daily infection rate seems to be stabilizing but that it is “far too high.”
