A 47-year-old Swedish consultant has been charged with spying for Russia. He faces up to six years in prison.
The man allegedly sold information about the companies Volvo and Scania to Russia. The prosecution believes the man endangered Sweden’s security.
The 47-year-old was arrested in February 2019 while eating dinner at a restaurant in Stockholm with a Russian diplomat, who is suspected of being an intelligence officer.
The diplomat was also arrested but released shortly afterward due to his diplomatic immunity.
The Swedish man is said to have received 27,800 Swedish kroner from the diplomat just before the arrest. They allegedly met each other several times, according to SVT.
