According to Spanish newspapers, Martin Ødegaard is wanted back in Real Madrid next season.

The newspaper Mundo Deportivo fronts in its Basque edition the news that Zinedine Zidane will break the oral loan contract with Real Sociedad on the front page.

Spain’s most read newspaper, Marca, reports the same in  its Tuesday edition. It is now uncertain if Ødegaard will return to Real Sociedad for the start of the season run-up on Friday.

According to Marca, Ødegaards future will be clarified in a few days.

Last summer, the clubs agreed on a loan transfer for Ødegaard. Followed by an agreement that the 21-year-old will be with San Sebastian for two years.

In Spanish football, it is not allowed to make loan agreements for over two seasons, and Real Madrid wants to take advantage of it by bringing Ødegaard back earlier than they had intended just over a year ago, writes TV2.

Drammens Tidende, who has covered Ødegaard closely for many years, refers to a “central source” in Real Sociedad and that the source says that “discussions around a new loan agreement are over”.

According to Spanish media, it will cost Real Madrid about 25 million kroner to bring Ødegaard to Madrid. Real Madrid and Real Sociedad have a good relationship at a presidential level, and it is expected that the Ødegaard case will be resolved without any bad relationships between the clubs.
