Nortura and Amedia have recently been hit by serious cyber attacks. A security expert at Telenor thinks it will get worse before it gets better.

“It is unlikely that we will see an improvement next year. It will probably get worse before it gets better,” Gunnar Ugland, head of Telenor’s security center, told E24.

Ugland says that such attacks can ultimately pose a risk to life and health if the attackers target, for example, energy supplies or hospitals.

“Very serious”

Odin Johannessen, the Norwegian Business Security Council director, says that cybercriminals are becoming more and more active.

“The fact that it has increased so drastically in scope is very serious,” Johannessen told E24.

“It threatens the whole way we manage our society and the way we run businesses. We are thoroughly digitalized. When they manage to prevent newspapers from being published, we see evidence that the consequences can be very significant, both for society and for individual companies,” he said.
