Hostility towards the infected must end

“Many of those who have been infected in local outbreaks in recent weeks have been exposed to hostility. This must end”, says Minister of Health Bent Høie (H).

“Many of those who, for example, are students at the Norwegian School of Management (NHH), have been called egoists and worse. Members of the congregation in Sarpsborg have been addressed with vicious terms. This must end”, Høie said during the government’s press conference on the corona situation on Thursday.

He emphasizes that there are many who may have ignored the infection-control advice, but that most may be unlucky to be infected with the coronavirus.

“Next time, the virus can spread from your school or workplace. We cannot stop the pandemic individually, we can only stop it together. So we must not incite others, we must support each other”, says the Minister of Health.
