Sales of new passenger cars fell by 39 per cent in May this year compared to the same month last year, figures show.
So far this year, sales are down 24 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the Information Council for the Road Traffic (OFV).
The decline for new passenger cars was greater in May than in April.
“Economic uncertainty clearly affects new car sales, and people are more cautious than during the financial crisis in 2008. We can say that the car market is taking the temperature of the economic future,” says Øyvind Solberg Thorsen, director of OFV.
